(Urdhva Mukha Svanasana)
When you feel alone, who do you call?
and what does your call sound like?
Do you whisper or howl?
In what language?
How does your body feel
when you let the call go…
How does your chest feel
when you open your heart
(does it make a sound)?
How does your back feel
when you exhale your needs,
your vulnerabilities into the world?
Does your call take on a material form?
If so, how does it move
through the world?
Who hears your call? And
When you lower yourself towards the earth
what stories rise to meet you?
What details become clearer?
What life signs become apparent?
Is the soil arid or fertile?
Dry, damp, wet?
Is your breath easy, or labored?
Your back loose or tense?
What parts of yourself do you let down first?
What are the sounds they make
as they make contact with the ground?
What shape will you leave behind?
And what stories will you tell with your own rising?
What is the shape of your tension?
The color and smell? And
how to you let it go?
Through which part of your body
does it leave you?
Does it make a sound as it goes?
What moves into the space it took up?
How do you keep fluid while your heart reaches
forward and upward?
When you pull away and flow again
downward and towards the earth
what does your heart hold on to?
