“I have said that poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings; it takes its origin from emotion recollected in tranquility.”William Wordsworth
I don’t believe this is the only definition of poetry. But it is one that suits me at the moment. I have taken a much longer break than I had intended. Caring for myself through a time of grief. Griefs. Attending privately to all the questions in my heart/mind/body.
There is something new here. In the middle of a story that began so long ago. A turning point. Last night I was talking with a friend about the unknown and what has happened when we’ve made attempts to know it. Tarot cards, palm readings. These images of joy and suffering, and of hangings and deaths – that are in fact sudden releases and new beginnings. Signs and omens are what we see as we approach them in the moment – from this particular perspective.
Side Corpse Pose offers the opportunity for a new perspective. Not merely “lying on our side”, but concentrating on the metaphorical death of one thing and the preparation to begin again, entering the world from this pristine position. This admission and embrace of innocence. From here we can – and must – open. Again.
Until Sunday… Namaste.
